Our mission is to create an educational environment where the tutors cultivate the knowledge of fellow students.
All students seeking extra help in a variety of courses can come to the Tutoring Center to request a tutor. Students may be tutored individually or in small groups, according to the number of requests per subject.
Tutors are CRLA certified (Certified Reading Learning Association) and are trained to differentiate tutoring within small groups. All tutors must have a 3.2 overall GPA, at least a B in the course for which they are tutoring, and at least one recommendation from the professors.
Tutees can expect:
- To be greeted with sincerity and for tutors to quickly establish good relationships with them.
- To work in a quiet environment that promotes learning.
- To complete a short survey summarizing their experience at the Tutoring Center.
Tutees are expected to bring:
- Course textbook
- Calculator (if needed)
- Notes and assignments
Other events sponsored by the Tutoring Center
- CRLA Skills Workshops
- Opportunities for 4.0 Group Study
- Peer Educator Training
The Tutoring Center schedule hours of operation are posted outside of Room 206 in the W.C. Jason Library.
